Banana 🍌 Calculator:
WTF?
“How many whats are as what as what?”
This is designed to help answer the age-old questions that plague us all: how many watermelons can fit into an Olympic-sized swimming pool? How many London double-decker buses would it take to stretch from Land’s End to John O’ Groats? And how much heavier is the Moon than the average banana?
Pick length, volume or weight, choose what to use as the base unit and how many of them you’re thinking about, then browse all the different things.
Click a tile to copy its full value, ready to be pasted and shared anywhere.

Why bananas? Well, as these are the Internet’s preferred measurement reference – the SI (Standard Internet) Banana – why not?
Why the weird emoji graphics? Ehh, you wanted something serious? Come on!
Numbers. Big ones. Really big ones. Or really small ones?
Some of the numbers you’ll get in comparisons will be insanely big or insanely small. Rather than throw a bucket full of zeros at this, or use exponents (if you say you can read those I don’t believe you), the Banana Calculator uses good old-fashioned words. Words such as Trillion, Quintillion, and everybody’s naughty favourite, Sexdecillion.
Each step is one thousand of the previous order of magnitude. So one billion is one thousand million, one trillion is a thousand billion (or a thousand, thousand million), and so on. It’s mind-boggling, frankly. I hope showing these full numeric strings for the standard name for each order of magnitude helps explain this.
